[So it's come to this. He has to get a blind date.]

[Edge regrets his life choices.]

[But never let it be said he won't deliver on a promise. Edge shows up at the promised time, a flower in his hand and at the ready, looking his spiffiest in the fine ninja gear of Eblan that is his right as both leader of the clan and King. Now he just has to hope his date is tolerable...]

[The defeat of Papillon should have been a reason to celebrate. And for Ladybug, Rena, Queen Bee and Carapace, it had been. Everyone had come out to celebrate except for the one person she'd really wanted to see. The fallout had been worse than she'd anticipated, and Adrien had left before it was over. Chat Noir disappeared at around the same time, and she was still trying not to read too much into it.

Alya was the first person she told when it was all over, because if she trusted her enough to give her the fox miraculous then she could trust her enough with her secret. So it was really not that surprising when Alya announced that she'd set up a blind date for her. And eventually she agreed just for the sake of trying to move on.

So here she was, at the appointed time, wearing a pink and white dress of her own design and a red flower in her hair at Alya's insistence. She'd said something about her date also having a flower, so she figured it would be a good way to identify him. Her? Alya hadn't actually specified, but whatever.]

[Moving on. Yes, that's a thing to do. One reason he'd been pushed into coming out here in turn... not that he wants to think of that. Not that he wants to think of anything right now.]

[Keen-eyed as befits a ninja, Edge notices the flower quickly enough, and seeing who it's attached to makes him perk up. Definitely a cute girl by anyone's measure! Not that he wants to get his hopes up, but... promising.]

[Straightening, Edge lifts his flower like a beacon to catch her attention.]

[She'd only been standing there for a couple of minutes when she spotted someone waving a flower around. Given that she hadn't spotted a single other person even holding a flower, she was going to assume she'd found Alya's surprise. And by the looks of it, she'd have to thank her best friend later.

Deciding to take the initiative, she flashed him a smile and walked right over.] Hi. Nice flower. [He was even better looking up close, and now that she'd gotten a good look at him, she decided that she absolutely needed to thank Alya later.] I'm Marinette.

Hi in return. Nice... everything about you, from what I'm seeing! [Edge sweeps her a gallant bow, one arm going back so that his cape snaps behind him, the other sweeping out to offer the pretty girl the flower.] Edge of Eblan, and it's a distinct pleasure to meet you, Marinette.

[Oh no, he was cute.] Well, that's a new one. But thanks! [Her eyes widened a little at the bow and she dipped into a curtsy in response, and then she took the flower with a smile.] It's lovely to meet you, too. [She wasn't sure she'd ever heard of Eblan, though, so she couldn't help being a little curious.] So what's a cutie like you doing here?

Same as I've been doing all my life -- waiting for you to enter it. [If she's gonna call him cute, he's going to notch up the lines a bit more. Always a pleasure to see someone actually appreciate them.] And after that, having the honor of escorting you on a date, if I may!

[Cute and charming? This had to be her lucky day.] In that case, sorry I'm late. [That had to be one of the better ones she'd heard in a while, and she did genuinely appreciate it. So she's reaching up to poke the end of his nose with the flower he'd just given her.] I think I'll have to insist~

[Edge wrinkles his nose beneath his mask, amused.] Good things in life are worth waiting for. Shall we?

[He motions to the restaurant nearby gallantly.]

I agree. [If this exchange was any indication of how the date was going to go, then Marinette was ready and eager to get it started.]

Let's. [And with that, she's looping her arm through his.]

[This is an unusual success, but Edge isn't going to question his luck (yet); why spend time worrying when Marinette seems legitimately interested in this date and he can spend time enjoying that instead!]

[So, every bit the gentleman and actual royalty that he secretly is, Edge escorts her grandly into the restaurant, where as part of this date their reservations are already made. He even contrives to pull out her chair for her when they reach the table.]

[For the most part, she'd been too busy focusing on other things to even think about dating in the past. But on the rare occasions she'd agreed to such a thing, they generally went well?

And as nice as they were, there'd never been a second date. Maybe because they weren't Adrien or Chat, or maybe because she wasn't technically looking for anything too serious.

But she was genuinely enjoying herself now, even if they hadn't technically gone inside yet. She's more than happy to let him lead her inside, and she flashes him a grin when he pulls out her chair.] Such a gentleman! Maybe I'll keep you.

Courtesy to a lady is my privilege and delight. [Though she certainly offers up a nice thought. Edge is a bit charmed himself, though he takes his seat with panache and a flick of his cloak for drama.]

[She's just going to take a seat, and possibly try to decide what lengths she'd have to go to in order to properly thank Alya for bullying her into agreeing to this.] A lot of people would benefit from following your example.

They really would. [Edge shakes his head, thinking of how many difficulties in his time would have been escaped had certain dragoons just not been jerks about women. But that was over and done with, not really great thoughts for a date either, so he brushes that off with a mental shrug.] But you do make it easy. If I'm being honest, I'm shocked you have time for a blind date with how all the men who know you must be clamoring for your attention.

[It was just a shame that more people didn't share his views. Not that she'd ever really found herself in a situation where it had been a problem, but even still.

His comment made her smile, though, and she couldn't stop the blush creeping over her cheeks.] This wasn't even my idea, if I'm being honest. My friend decided that I work too much and needed a break or something.

[Nothing like being honest without being too direct about it.]

But I'm glad I decided to let her talk me into it.

Me too. I'll have to remember to thank her. [And at that, Edge accepts menus from their waiter, offering her one with a smile. Momentary pause in conversation, they need drink orders at least!]

Ooh? You want to thank my best friend for meddling? [That would certainly be a sight to see. And honestly, she's kind of tempted to let him if the date went well.

She'll take a moment to look over the menu before finally settling on a glass of water with lemon to start with.] Do you want to get something to share, or...?

Appetizer? My tastes are many, so if there's anything you have a hankering for... [The line of Eblan is every bit at home at formal dinners of state as it is out in the field, gnawing hardtack and trail rations in seclusion.]

Appetizers could work! [That tells her literally nothing, though. C'mon Edge~]

Mmm... how adventurous are you feeling? [Because she could easily just order a bunch of things she knows she likes and watch as he tries them all.]

Right now? [He props one elbow on the table to lean in, eyes sparkling.]
