He's hit a hot streak, and he's on fire! [Body Plot]

In the Overlord's Fortress, in the wide-open space right before the throne, a young girl with long blue hair and a vapidly cheerful expression sat, toasting a marshmallow over a roaring fire.

The minions didn't stop her, because the minions had vanished when the Overlord had gone unconscious. Beyond those who chose to venture down here in search of clues, hope, or loot, this girl was the first activity the Fortress had seen since the Overlord's unceremonious collapse a week ago.

As for where the Overlord was...

That fire she was toasting marshmallows over was the Sacred Tome.

"I'll show you violent!" Ruffnut had apparently had enough moderation seeing her friends suffering in emotional turmoil and threw herself at the mysterious and annoying girl attempting to throttle her.

Once again, it seemed that the girl had anticipated Ruffnut's actions before she even moved; she scooped the book up, opened it, and then thrust the tome into Ruffnut's outstretched hands.

"See for yourself," she said. "He's not coming back. He's spent too long in the book, so now he became one."

Blithely, she strolled over to Lash to pat her comfortingly on the back. "Don't worry. He abandoned the last woman he loved. I'm sure he would have done the same to you! It's better this way!"

WOW. Okay no. That was the last straw. She let out a high-pitched primal scream and attempted to throw the stick at her like a spear before just...collapsing on the floor again. Gone. Done. What could she do really? Lash had a bit of an idea what had happened between Zetta and Salome and frankly she didn't really care. But the words that girl was saying cut her a lot more than anything a death ray could have done.

"I don't give a damn what he's done in the past...I've done just as worse!" Well maybe not in the dumping anyone part, but Lash had had her share of nefarious deeds and people being dead because of her. "I still have no idea who you are but....just go away. I don't want to hear it anymore." She let her head fall to the floor and looked up at the ceiling, biting her lip before speaking again.

"...You big dumb idiot." Who that was for...well, that was hard to say. "I don't care what she says. I'll find a way to fix it..." Damn it, if she had made magical crystals that could power up humans and turn them into powerful warriors, there had to be a way to do this! ...just...maybe if her mind would stop thinking and being worried for a second it would be easier to formulate a plan...

Holy hells this went a whole nother direction really damn quick... And now Rin didn't know which he preferred, the fighting femmes, or the sudden downcast of emotions surfacing in this moment...

Whatever the case, Rin still felt out of place and decided to move back and sit on the steps. Why couldn't Yukio be here? He'd know what to do... Cause this shit wasn't what Rin's department was about. If there had been something to fight? Hells yeah! But this? This just made him feel... something.

Awkward? Lonely? Sad? Confused? Who knows when it came to Rin.

"We'll all find a way to fix it."

Hit Girl was sick of this. That...bastard was NOT just going to leave! She had already lost her dad (twice), she was SICK of losing goddamn people she cared about!best

"It's not over!" She growled. "He's the goddamn Overlord! He doesn't just turn into a book and that's the end!"

Ruffnut stared at the book feeling it limp in her hands. There was just...nothing there.

There was an unfamiliar feeling in her eyes. A burning. She knew what it was, and she hated herself for it, but that just made the tears come easier.

Running down her cheeks she sniffed and glared as hard as she could trying to stay angry instead of breaking down.

Now Ruffnut had her turn to get not-very-comforting pats on the back. "If it helps at all, he abandoned the LAST woman he loved. Who was also his disciple! So he probably would've done the same to you all too."

Lash made a hand movement every time the girl spoke and rolled her eyes. If she couldn't formulate plans, at least she could be sarcastic. Yet there was one thing which had been bothering her about all of this, tossed aside for a short while but now returning full force.

"...how come you know all that from him anyway? He told me about a lot of demons he was around with, but never mentioned you..."

Seriously you'd think an annoying little twerp like that would get at least one grunt of acknowledgement in passing or one mention.

"Maybe she's a sibling, or family, or maybe a disgruntled ex or something?"

Who knew, her actions and words as someone who had to be close to them didn't they? Some random stranger doesn't just to all this research unless they had something to gain or whatever.

Who was this guy anyway? Add that to the long list of questions she had.

"An ex? I dunno about that? I think the Overlord had better taste, a little less young."

Sarcasm...much better than depression right now.

Ruffnut passed the empty book to Lash so she could wipe her eyes on her sleeve.

"I hate this." She grumbled sounding gruff as she tried to swallow her anger.

The girl grinned broadly, her emotions seeming as brief and shallow as a puddle after a misting rain. "Everyone knew about Zetta! The funniest and the worst person ever."

"...yeah that does sound like him." She was taking worst as in badass evil overlord way of worse, thank you very much. Ruffnutt what were you doing you're not going to wipe your face in the pag--okay good sleeves were acceptable. She took the book and leaned on it...not sure sure what to do.

So she talked.

"Okay, I'll give you that everyone knew him. Still doesn't explain who the hell you are." The more she though about it, the weirder it was. "You seem to have a lot of power too."

"Okay, so he was well known... still, that doesn't explain why you were here, or why you were making a campfire on him... and if he was well known, you would have known that it was him... no?"

"Maybe she's just a bitch," Mindy said, shrugging. "Sounds like a Mary sue to me, just knowing random information she shouldn't, and avoiding actually answering anything. Why even believe what she says?"

Mindy lightly shoved Ruffnut off of wiping her nose on the books. Keep it together, Ruff.

Ruffnut accepted the shove without objection, the fresh tearstains on her sleeve an indication of her confusion and frustration at the situation.

And hopefully, somewhere along the way she'd be able to sink her fist into this annoying bitches face.

"Oh, you're not concerned with me," the girl said brightly. "But my name's Trenia."

"Bullshit," she snapped right back, suddenly back into anger. What else did she have at this point? "You were burning marshmallows on top of Zetta's body. I am completely concerned with you."

Trenia. Nope. Didn't remember anything about that name and Lash had an excellent memory.

"What netherworld are you from? You're an overlord too come here to gloat about his death aren't you? Well don't gloat too long, I'll find a way to bring him back even if it's the last thing I do!" Even if she has to give her own life...he had a feeling he'd find a way to bring her back too. As long as it wasn't an endless cycle...

"That doesn't make sense... aren't we supposed to be immortal? Specially someone as powerful as that guy no?"

This was of great concern of course... he might have been new at this gig, but he knew that demons could be vicious and traitorous and the chances of death were pretty high...

Which if you were immortal, didn't mean much. You'd just lose whatever they were after or whatever... right?

"You're not gonna do it alone," Hit Girl snapped her head up. "Just so you don't do anything stupid LIKE getting yourself killed. The Overlord wouldn't want you actually dead just so he could. He would be pretty pissed off."

Even she didn't think that demons were immortal, and that book thing had its own special circumstances, didn't he?

"We just gotta have a plan, that's all."

"Plans, right. Plans are good." Ruffnut agreed, "Which means gotta swallow our tears and focus our headmeat." She said this specifically to Lash and for good measure tapped her own forehead. Out of all of them there Lash was by far the smartest technically.

"Oh wow!"

Abandoning the gathering around the book abruptly, Trenia took off towards Rin, arms outstretched like she was chasing him.

"Oh wow?" The hell was going on now? She looked over at Rin and...

"...dude run." Yet she was making no effort to try and help him from this freakish weirdo of nature.

"E-EH?! What--" And then he cut off his inquiry by starting to run!

"W-wait what is it, what did I do?!"

Hit Girl could not have cared any less about those two over there, with their running or whatever they were doing. Quietly, she started to gather the book in her hands, looking somber but nowhere near close to tears. This sucked, but she was Hit Girl. Somehow, someway, she would find a way to bring him back to how he was.

"Lash." She said this quietly. "Do you wanna hold on to him?"

Ruffnut didn't care either but took the moment to whip a lightning ball at the girl in frustration. They were making it really hard to maintain her stoic solid warrior's demeanor in the face of...well what looked to be death.

The lightning ball bowled the girl down, sparing Rin a moment of mercy as she laughed. "That tickled!" she said, getting up. "Wow, you all are acting like you CARED about him!"
