What the heck was he doing here?

Beneath the shade of the palm fronds, Roy stared out at the desert that stretched out in every direction. Somehow he'd found himself here, against all logic. A weird sidequest? A dream? Maybe he was dead again and his spirit had been hijacked.

Well, what could he do but wait and see what came along? The oasis showed signs of being used by travelers, so he wouldn't be stuck here forever anyway...

"And if there wasn't you were going to argue that see, cards aren't the answer to every problem," she accused. She's not as stupid as Elan as much as she might seem that way sometimes.

Roy flashed a smug grin back. "Why not? Either way I'm right."

She looked like she was giving serious consideration to hitting him on the head with her talking cane. "That was a mean trick," she mumbled.

"It's not a trick," Roy said, more seriously. "It's a logical conclusion based on facts and evidence."

[najaran]

"It is a question you asked in such a way that no matter what I answered you could claim the point," she replied.

"That's because either way, my point was accurate. The base underlying truth was ineffable."
