First dates are magical, full of potential and the promise of a future -- whether it be a night or years to come. A conventional dinner, casual drinks at the bar, some fancy activity, or refrigerated Netflix... whatever you do could change your life forever.

Or maybe not. Only one way to find out.

1. First Date EVER: Whether you're in school, just socially awkward, or under weird circumstances: neither of you two have ever been on a date before. You have no idea what you're doing and only cultural knowledge to go on. Can you get through without turning red? Can you even show up on time?

2. Dinner and a Movie: As big a trope as ever there was. Meet for a dinner, hit a movie afterwards, and see how it goes.

3. Friends Becoming More?: You've been friends for a while now... but there's always been a spark of interest. Maybe it's time to explore the possibilities.

4. Swipe Right: Nothing wrong with trying some internet dating. A website or app matched the pair of you and you've agreed to give it a shot. Something casual like a coffee shop or cafe comes recommended in this scenario: light, simple, no obligations.

5. And This Is Crazy: You just met. At a bar, at a party, at a social event, maybe somewhere stranger. Your eyes met, your sparks flew, and now you're meeting with that memory fresh in mind.

6. Speed Dating: You've got five minutes to make an impression on each other, before you move on to others at the speed-dating event. Go.

7. Arranged Date: Your guardian or parents have specifically arranged this event with your date's, in the hopes that you'll be a good match. The event doesn't carry the harsh obligation of a betrothal, but nonetheless, there's a little pressure there...

8. Blind Date: Who the heck is this person? Your close friend set you two up, and now you get to lay eyes for the first time on this person that assured you is really nice...

9. Fake Date Turned More...?: You aren't really dating. You're pretending to get someone off your back. You're staking out a restaurant and need to look casual. You're going to prom as friends only, just to go. But if that's true... why are you enjoying this so much?

In a perfect world, Edge would be free to flirt with girls, charm whomsoever he liked, and do as he pleased. But in this one, he had duties -- as both Prince of Eblan and leader of the Eblan ninja clan. One of those duties was to ensure the line of succession... something he had been failing at utterly, and probably would keep failing at the way he kept flirting with girls that weren't in any royal line or clan.

So here he was, gently urged to meet a girl who might solve all of those problems. The only concession he'd gotten was to not make it a Huge Formal Thing that involved court and processions and a big diplomatic to-do. Instead, he waited casually at a restaurant in town, leaning by the door as he looked for this mysterious girl he had to meet. Yeesh.

In a perfect world, Yuffie wouldn't be stuck meeting someone her father wanted to marry. She'd be able to keep traveling the world and one day fall in love before taking over as the leader of Wutai. This wasn't a perfect world.

She didn't know a whole lot about Edge except that he was a flirt and many girls were in love with him. It didn't really bug Yuffie, she'd never met him before, but this felt like a waste of time. How would someone like that want to be stuck with her?

She at least got to wear normal clothes as she walked into the restaurant they were supposed to meet. Her hair hung loosely around her cheeks with a black headband circling her forehead. Her top was a crop top that she knew her father didn't approve of while her shorts and belt held an array of blades. She didn't look like someone who was going to meet her so called future husband.

At first, Yuffie didn't notice Edge by the door. She walked in and paused when she didn't see him. "He's late." She grumbled before turning and meeting his gaze. "Aren't you being creepy."

"Wow."

He almost didn't register her words at first, busy being distracted by how absurdly pretty she was. When they did finally trickle into his brain, belatedly, he jerked upright, then sketched her a dramatic bow.

"My apologies. Edge of Eblan, at your service!"

She hummed to herself and then flashed him a grin. "Yuffie Kisaragi of Wutai. Nice ta meet cha." She saluted him but didn't bow. Yuffie wasn't great at bowing and decided it was best to just forego anything like that.

"So are you going to have a seat with me or is this a standing party?"

"It would have been rude to be seated before the lady!" With a snap of his cloak behind him, Edge led the way to a table, where he did the gentlemanly thing of holding her seat for her.

"Thanks." Yuffie sat and watched as Edge circled the table and took the seat across from her. She wasn't sure what his game was but she was nearly positive it was something. After all, he probably hadn't wanted to come meet her either.

"You seem to be in high spirits meeting someone your clan wants you to marry."

"Well, it turns out she's absolutely beautiful and has a radiant smile." He rubbed the back of his head, expression a little sheepish as he dropped into his own seat. "I was a little worried you'd be dressed up way too fancy, too."

Yuffie grinned. "I'm not really into that fancy stuff." Much to her fathers dismay. "You can also talk to me instead of about me. It's kind of weird."

She grabbed a glass of water sitting on the table and took a sip. "I've heard about you. Rumor says you're a ladies man. Not really husband material." To be fair, Yuffie wasn't really bride material either but she was leaving that part out.

"And rumor says you're the biggest tomboy in the world, more likely to rob a suitor instead of woo him." His mask hid his grin, but it reached his eyes anyway. "Obviously rumor isn't perfect."

"Who says I didn't start that rumor myself?" It was an easy way for her to prevent her father from marrying her off. It also helped that she rarely appeared in formal society so no one knew what she looked like. There were some pretty amusing descriptions going around.

"Maybe. Are you not a lady's man?"

"I'm a flirt. I'll admit that. But duty tends to get in the way." The admission was embarrassing, actually, and Edge glanced away as he said it. Being honest like that didn't exactly make him feel terrific about how much reality didn't live up to reputation. But he preferred that, somehow, to having her think he had a dozen girls with a line for more.

"So you actually do some work?" She laughed. "It's fine. I try and get out of my duties too. I have been mostly helping with relief efforts in allied countries." Yuffie didn't mind that he was a flirt but she still expected him to have a line of girls standing outside his room or something. Her imagination had a tendency of being a little ridiculous.

"I'd prefer to go treasure hunting if I could."

[It wasn't the first time that Wrathion had seen this particular fellow. Though it certainly had been a while! He sat back, a smug expression on his face, even as he arched his brows at the blood elf paladin.]

Pandaria, wasn't it? Are you in the market for another cloak, perhaps?

I'm always in the mood for a good reputation grind! [Mar flashes the dragon a saucy wink and a thumbs-up.] The rewards never fail to impress!

[Well, worse things had happened than getting set up by...some sort of computer generated date thing. Zenos, for example. He'd been a bad thing.

Yotsuyu sat at the coffee shop, sipping delicately at her cappucino and waiting. She'd been early, so the fellow wasn't late yet, but as the minutes ticked by, her patience was waning...]

Whoa, whoa. [That comes from outside, as a guy scooting past at top speed all but skids to a halt. This is the place? This is the place, he supposed!]

[Slapping the door open, Jecht strolls on in, glancing around to look for the girl he'd been matched with.]
