Did they sign up for it, looking for fun or romance? Did they get talked into it? Lose a bet? Get signed up by a well-meaning friend? Whatever the case, they're obligated now.

But maybe it won't be so bad...

Touche. [She imagined this might be what it was like if she had agreed to a date with Chat Noir. Only Edge had no secret identity to hide behind, and he was still this adorable. It was definitely something to consider.]

Of course... we probably should decide on actual meals, too. [He could and would flirt with her all day, but the poor waitstaff might get dreadfully exasperated. Once the wheels of mealmaking were set in motion, then he'd turn his attention back to making this dinner a proper date!] Though they don't lack for variety.

Then I think we're decided. And having decided, now we can get back to more important topics, such as how cute you are. Anyone written a poem about that yet?

I think you must just be saying that, because a simple glimpse in the mirror must be enough to convince you of your beauty. Or if not that, the way that just the sight of you makes men weak-kneed. If I were any less tough, I couldn't have walked here.

[Marinette would probably be very pleased to know that she ranked above food. But even so, she can't really recall anyone writing a poem about her. Ladybug, yes. Marinette, not so much.

[Though Edge pauses to actually consider his compliments, for while he believes them and means them, he hasn't really stopped to think about just what her finest features are.]

[He comes up with one that honestly surprises him.]

[Maybe she should've felt a little bad for pushing him, but really she'd rather he just say what he meant.

That second one actually surprised her a little, but it wasn't any less flattering than the first if she was being honest.]

I'd like to take all the credit for that, but it's really one of the side effects of my uh... second job. [Which wasn't technically a lie, even if it wasn't technically the entire truth. Running around as Ladybug had certainly done wonders for her figure.] I suppose it takes one to know one?

I like to be indirect. I've found that hammering a girl too hard, too fast, with too direct compliments can produce the wrong effect. Or seem insincere or trying too hard, even if I could spend an hour talking about all your positive points.

[He leans back slightly, putting a hand to his chest.] Me, I'm a ninja, so of course I have to keep in good shape. It's a demanding role to play!

Should I be concerned about you hammering me too hard? [Clearly she's just in the mood to be ridiculous now.] But really, I'd actually prefer it if you were direct. [That made her grin, though.] If you're a good boy, I'll let you have that hour later to tell me all about it.

[Maybe she might not have guessed ninja, but it made some kind of sense.] Nina, huh? That must keep you pretty busy.

Oh yes. King and head of the Eblan ninja clan, so very busy indeed -- oh, hold on. [Their waiter is back! Excellent timing, too, as he's starting to feel some real hunger brewing here.]

Impressive. [It's a little disappointing that her comment went unacknowledged, but she figured she couldn't really blame him for that.

But then the waiter decided to make an appearance and she supposed it was for the best.] I'll let you do the honors and order for us, since we're decided~

[Well, he might have been getting to that had they not been interrupted. But no sense delaying the waitstaff -- Edge opens the menu to rattle off their terrific "one of everything" appetizer idea, plus a pair of their catch of the day. The waiter manages to bear this all stoically, which will probably earn him a nice tip later.]
