"All right, then. Howdy, partner," she said with a smile, casually leaning against a nearby post with her legs crossed. Did she know how that sounded? Probably. But it was too late to change course now. "Name's Applejack, and you must be?"

Well, luck was certainly with him. Not only had he gotten a very pretty blind date, he got one whose voice he could listen to for hours. If nothing else, his ears sure we going to enjoy this.

"Morgan Knight," he said, with a lazy, delighted smile as he touched his fingers to his chest. "Last name, not a title! That seems to get asked an awful lot."

"So you're saying you haven't saved a kingdom?" she laughed gently. She had. Not that she was up for bragging about it.

"But there's still time, don't you worry about that. I'm Applejack, just a farm gal from Sweet Apple Acres."

"Nope, I'm not much of a hero," Morgan said with a chuckle, hands up in acknowledgment. "'Farm gal' sounds like a pretty good life to me... Shall we walk and talk? I didn't plan anything, but there's plenty to do around here. Cafe for light drinks, window-shopping, probably more active stuff around, or food..."

"Definitely," she nodded, and then after a moment of thought:

"Hope you don't mind if I'm not too fast," she said apologetically. "See, I just...haven't been feeling too well, lately. Nothing that'll keep me from this, I'm just not as strong as I used to be."

She was terrible at lies. That was about the most she could manage without her cheeks puffing up with guilt. "But that's more time to take it all in, hm?"

"Oh no!" Morgan lifted a hand to ward off any thoughts she might have of that being a problem. "I'm sorry to hear that. I'll take it easy, I promise. And we can scrape the active ideas, it's totally fine."

Funny, she didn't LOOK like she was feeling unwell. Quite the opposite, really. But if it was an excuse or a dodge, it wasn't his place to question.

"Hey, I never said I wanted to scrap those," she challenged with a small gleam in her eye. "I'll just have to try harder, s'all."

Well, as long as one of those wasn't horseback riding. That would be awkward.

"So how do you usually ride the, uh...dating rodeo?" That was a thing people called it, right?

Whoop, whoa. That gleam made Morgan's skin prickle -- it was the sort of expression he found irresistible. He blinked, running a hand down one arm with a smile. "Well. If you like athletic stuff, we could just find an open field and throw a frisbee around, or play some volleyball. There's a park just on the other side of the shopping center."

"I'd like that. So now's the warm'up, yeah?"

She's taking it pretty slowly for a supposed warm-up, but she doesn't mind that at all. More time to flick her gaze over, observe him when she thought he wasn't looking...it felt different as a human, but somehow the same.

"But I'm afraid I don't know those games."

Used to people who weren't accustomed to things he knew, Morgan thought nothing special of that. "Simple stuff," he said, as he turned to start them walking down the sidewalk. "Frisbee is just throwing a disc around and catching it. Volleyball is basically hitting a ball over a net."

"Huh. Think I might've tried something like that once...with a friend cheating, of course," she laughed. "Not that I didn't forgive her every time."

She tossed her hair back over her shoulder, peering in a shop window, then another, and then back at him. "I don't think I'm gonna find any net, but I can sure toss---I reckon, anyway."

Morgan paused a moment, having found that casual hair flip completely mesmerizing. What could he say? He was a sucker for long hair, and hers was definitely nice.

"Oh, uh -- they have nets set up at the park, but grabbing a frisbee is just as easy." Luckily, he could make a reasonably smooth recovery.

"Sounds about perfect," she laughed, looking at him curiously. She'd really need a visual on this sports equipment to understand the games, but...he was pretty pleasing on the eye in the meantime.

"All right, how's this: what do you think's easier to show off with? Or what would you rather show me right now? Keeping in mind that I'm gonna do my best to show you up, o'course."

"Oh, that's easy. Taking my shirt off." Morgan grinned, barely even wicked -- the man had a damn nice chest and he knew it. "But if we're sticking to the established choices, then we're throwing the frisbee around."

[Gosh, that was...an escalation. She knew that was sure a big deal for humans, and in human form she had an understanding of what was attractive as such. But it was his confidence more than anything that would charm her and she knew it, so she made a little note.]

Okay, how 'bout we save that for later and play? 'Fraid I didn't bring something a little more comfortable, though I could find it.

"I kid, I kid," Morgan said, still grinning mischievously. "Here, let's drop in here."

He slapped open the door to the store, holding it for her. What lay beyond was a fairly casual store, catering obviously to people looking for a good day in the park or on the nearby beach -- picnic baskets, chairs and towels, coolers, and of course, frisbees and other toys.

"Maybe I wasn't," she winked before stepping in. Best to behave herself now. She picked up a basket, a large sheet, and a few simple toys, though not too much---there was still the food to serve!

"Once we get there I'll have to swing back. It's not too far, but I forgot the picnic basket!" she sighed, shaking her head. So much preoccupation with the date and all these human matters had done her head in.

Yeah, Morgan was starting to really like her.

"You had a picnic basket ready? Man... you're the take-charge type, aren't you?" Grinning, Morgan made sure they had a few different frisbees before he moved to pay. No letting her pick up the tab when he had money to burn!

Applejack tut-tutted, but she'd accept. "All's fair, I s'pose. Hope you're the type to work up an appetite...but I think you can."

Oh, with that muscle, he definitely could. She'd...just wait until they left the shop to say it, but the moment they did, she winked and nudged him.

"We'll set up camp, then I'll get the meal ready. Shade or sunshine?"

Morgan grinned boyishly at the nudge. Boy, could he. Luckily she looked like the type who could too, especially if that nudge really was promising a power in that body he could really appreciate.

"Shade for the camp. I think we'll get plenty of sun otherwise."

"Right. Luckily I'm pretty good with trees," she promised, sauntering off into the park with a little smile. She eyed them all up for their strength, density of leaves...there was even one with some fruit growing!

She grinned, casually kicked it, and handed Morgan a fresh pear. Not her first choice, but.

"Something to snack on 'til I get back, 'kay?"

Morgan caught the pear reflexively, only becoming aware of it a moment later when he looked down at his hand, then back up at Applejack.

He was used to being a more dominant personality in interactions, and losing control of this one was unexpected and honestly pretty delightful.

"Every minute you're gone is going to feel like a year," he said, such a broad smile on his face.

"I'd better not find you snoozing under this tree with a grey beard, then," she laughed. "Be back in a jiffy."

Not a flash, that was Rainbow Dash's territory, but as close as she could make it. She raced home as quickly as these newfangled legs could carry her, grabbed the basket, threw in a few treats she happened to have lying around, and began the jog back.

"Hope you're hungry, darlin'," she offered, flicking her hair back over her shoulder as she presented the basket. It was a simple but well-constructed woven thing, lovingly tied with a red bow.

Inside? Fresh sandwiches, chilled lemonade, and two apple fritters. She'd learned not to overdo the apple (not that such a thing was possible, in her opinion).

Morgan strongly considered doing just that, with a little Life magick for the joke... but there was a chance he'd freak her out a little, and he really didn't want to do that. A little greedily, he already wanted this date to work out well.

So he waited with, as he'd said, more than a little impatience to see her back, but when she did return she got met with a bright smile -- even before she presented the basket, which he accepted with an even brighter grin for how cutely she'd presented it.

"You know," he said, checking the contents. "This is way better than some random restaurant. You're brilliant and amazing."

"Now you're just pulling my leg," she giggled, a clear blush on her cheeks. She knelt beside him and spread a picnic blanket with a flick of her wrists.

Then, with a gleam in her eye: "At least wait to go on 'til you've tried it!"
